Angela Burgess, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Angela Burgess has more than 30 years of diverse healthcare experience including operations, finance, and information technology. In her current executive role, Angela Burgess provides leadership to the organization for strategic decisions regarding information technology and systems, information system’s security, telecommunications, data analytics, pharmacy, supply chain, laboratory services, facility services, emergency preparedness, and special projects.

Prior to her role as COO, Angela served as the Senior Director of Financial Services. Her management responsibilities included Decision Support, Budgeting and Reimbursement, Health Information Management, Supply Chain and Patient Access. Prior to joining Randolph Health, Angela Burgess spent nine years in healthcare consulting with Premier in Charlotte, NC.

Angela has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University and a Master in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a member of ACHE, CHIME, and HIMSS. Angela was recognized in 2017 by Health Data Management as one of the Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 Angela was included in Becker’s Healthcare list of Community Hospital CIO’s to Know.

Rajashekar Umesh kumar, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Rajashekar Kumar has been part of the Randolph Health family since June 2021, serving as a hospitalist, with expertise in the unique needs of hospitalized patients. With over 35 years of experience in medicine, he brings deep clinical insight and a passion for quality care to his leadership role. He works closely with the medical staff on governance, credentialing, peer review, and ensuring high standards across the board.

Originally from India, Dr. Kumar began his career as a medical microbiologist and infectious disease specialist, serving in both India and Jamaica. He was also proud to contribute to global health through the United Nations Development Program for three years.

After moving to the U.S., he completed his internal medicine residency in Huntsville through the University of Alabama. For the past 10+ years, he has worked as a hospitalist and remains board certified in Internal Medicine. He continues to care for patients at Randolph Health and is an active member of Open Source MD (OSMD).

Dr. Kumar is committed to fostering a collaborative, patient-centered environment and is proud to serve the Randolph County and its surrounding communities.
